Our butt covers are made to allow you to fully cover the butt and optics of a rifle or shotgun that you'll be carrying in your pack or in your Eberlestock Side Scabbard. If you clip the cover to the pack, using the Control Clips on the Gunslinger-type packs or the tether strap on the top of Just One and X1A1 packs, the pack essentially becomes a soft rifle case, fully enclosing and securely transporting your weapon. If you leave the clips un-fastened (we recommend wrapping them around the side of the butt cover and connecting them to their opposite member), then you can cover the butt and optics and then slip the rifle into the scabbard, gaining weather protection and more discreetly carrying the rifle. |

Rigged this way, the rifle is quickly accessible; you just grab the butt right along with the cover, pull them from the pack together, and then shed the butt cover and use the rifle -- enjoying a clean scope and action while doing so. The JSTC Regular Butt Cover, shown at right on a J107 pack, works with all of our standard-width scabbards, such as those on the Just One series and X1A1 packs.
