Model # 40047 - Metres and Yards

The Leica Geovid HD-B 8x42 Binoculars enable the ultimate in optical performance in every viewing situation. Their high contrast and edge-to-edge image sharpness ensure identification of even the smallest details. The use of innovative concepts like High Definition (HD) optics – the use of fluoride glasses – in their construction guarantees a viewing image with particularly high contrast. The binoculars have complete freedom from color fringing and edge-to-edge brilliance and sharpness, even in the twilight hours and when visibility is poor. The brightness of the LED display adjusts automatically to ambient lighting conditions and shows the determined values with optimum brightness and clarity under any conditions.

The Leica AquaDura coating on the exposed glass surfaces means dirt and water on the lenses just roll away and improves viewing performance, particularly in rainy weather. Therefore, these binoculars will always provide optimum performance, even in adverse weather conditions and extremely humid environments. A further advantage of this special coating is that the lenses can now be cleaned even more quickly and easily.

The new Geovid HD-B 42 binoculars deliver dependable measuring results at a range now extended to around 1,800 metres (1,825 m/2,000 yds) and open up entirely new fields of use for orientation in unfamiliar terrain.

The 8x42 Geovid HD-B Rangefinder Binocular from Leica fuses the image quality of a fully multicoated optical path with the functionality of a 2000-yard laser rangefinder and integrated ballistics computer. Using an array of built-in sensors, this electro-optic measures the ambient atmospheric conditions as well as the shooter's angle relative to the target. By compiling data from the laser rangefinder and environmental sensors, the ballistics computer will calculate several values that can help improve shot placement.

Leica's Advanced Ballistic Compensation (ABC) technology combines temperature and air pressure readings with rangefinder data, zeroing distance, and user-defined ballistics curve to calculate ballistic compensation values. To maximize the accuracy of compensation values, the Geovid HD-B allows the shooter to input their rifle's zero distance and select a ballistics curve corresponding to the chambered round. The HD-B is pre-loaded with 12 ABC ballistics curves for various calibers and weights, and alternative ballistics curves can be stored and uploaded using the included microSD card. An in-view LED display allows the observer to view the calculated ABC values without taking their eyes off the visual scene.

Like other Geovid series binoculars, the HD-B model has a nitrogen-filled fogproof housing as well as fully multicoated fluoride glass lenses that transmit luminous and color faithful images. Leica's phase-corrected Perger Porro prism design merges the benefits of roof and Porro designs, delivering a streamlined form factor without sacrificing depth of field or color fidelity. Exposed lens surfaces are finished with Leica's proprietary High Durable (HDC) and AquaDura lens coatings, which repel moisture and prevent dirt from adhering to the glass. These features add up to a multi-purpose handheld optic that is built for unforgiving weather conditions and low light performance.

In addition to the broad functionality and premium image quality, the Geovid HD-B includes a range of features that provide ergonomic handling and user-friendly interaction. The dual-bridge configuration and rear-located center focus wheel balance the housing and even help to stabilize this binocular in the observer's hands. This optic is also equipped with a long 18mm eye relief and click-stop eyecups that twist up to create a comfortable viewing distance for almost any observer. The auto-adjusting display brightness, two-button rangefinder operation, and included microSD memory card make the Geovid HD-B a fully-loaded rangefinder for targets up to 2000 yards away.

Functions of the Leica Geovid 8x42 HD-B Rangefinder / Binoculars
Function 1

When using a classical hunting reticle, the point-of-impact correction is applied by means of an elevation adjustment. The Geovid HD-B displays the distance and the elevation correction (centimetres or inches). The value displayed relates to the target and shows the required deviation from point blank.

Function 2

If the point-of-impact correction is applied by click adjustments with rapid reticle adjustment (Absehenschnellverstellung - ASV), the number of clicks required to adjust the reticle can be displayed. Display formats: 1 MOA, 1/3 MOA, 1/4 MOA, 10 mm/100 m, 5 mm/100 m.

Function 3

When using a ballistic reticle, level terrain distance information is vital for a precise shot. As in all other functions, this information is provided under automatic consideration of the angle of declination, temperature and barometric pressure.
